  • Heavy-duty pickup truck
  • Two engine options: 6.2-L gasoline V-8 and a 6.7-L turbo-diesel V-8
  • New XL Appearance Package
The 2014 Ford F-250 is the first in Fordís full lineup of heavy-duty pickup trucks.

The F-250 is one of the larger siblings to Fordís best-selling F-150 half-ton pickup truck and offers bigger engine options and sturdier construction to handle the biggest of tasks. At the same time, it is also a very flexible pickup with three different cab varieties and two bed sizes.

Mostly unchanged for the new model year, the F-250ís only addition is a new XL Appearance Package which adds chrome to the bumpers, grille, and hub covers, along with cruise control. From the outside, the 2014 F-250 flexes its muscle with a power dome hood and a big, brawny front grille. Cab choices include regular, extended (Super) and crew (four conventional doors). There are also 6.75- or 8-foot boxes, and dual-rear-wheel models are available with the 8-foot box.

The F-250 is also very customizable in the cabin as well, offering a front bench or front bucket seats and a host of rear seating options depending on cab size. Just like the truck itself, storage spaces are oversized, with a center console unit that can fit a laptop computer and plenty of other nooks and crannies, including a lockable under-seat center storage unit under the rear bench that is optional. Air conditioning and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel are standard, but buyers looking to spruce up the F-250 have a plethora of options to choose from including heated and cooled front seats, a 4.2-inch LCD screen in the instrument cluster that displays fuel-economy and monitors off-road/towing details, navigation system, power-adjustable pedals, and Sync.

There are two engine options: a standard 385-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 which makes 405 pounds-feet of torque and runs on regular gas or E85 ethanol, and an available 400-hp, Power Stroke 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V-8 that makes a massive 800 pounds-feet of torque. The Power Stroke V-8 burns regular diesel fuel or a blend of up to 20 percent biodiesel. Both engines work with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. The F-250 uses rear- or optional all-wheel drive.

Safety features on the Super Duty include electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control, side curtain airbags, front-seat side-impact airbags, and all-disc antilock brakes. Also available are rear parking sensors and a backup camera.
